Even though at first I thought it was so absurd to think that even though someone writes or preaches about a subject, and seems to know deeply about it, that doesn't necessarily mean that they follow what they are teaching or that they are as moral or good as the subject that they know so much about. But just like Da Free John wrote so well and even won awards for the writing he did over religion. Even though he wrote so well about religion it turned out that he was really some cult leader. So he was probably crazy and had all kinds of followers who were just as crazy as he was.
But just because he was a bit crazy he still had good thoughts about religion. That was the whole point of the essay. Just like you cant judge a book by its cover, you cant judge the good content of a book because of the crazy person who wrote it. If its good writing then its good writing.
